Business management software for photographers: Tave Studio Manager
October 3, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

After becoming completely fed up with trying to organize and run my photography business by keeping paper files and using Google Calendar alone, I began looking online for a good business management solution geared toward photographers and photography studios. There must be something out there like that, right? Well, the answer is–right! I found this great online software called Tave Studio Manager that has really helped me become so much more efficient with the paperwork and scheduling side of my business. Plus, I didn’t have to totally scrap my beloved Google Calendar, because Tave lets me subscribe to my calendar. Anyway, long story short, I know that I have a few photographers reading my blog, so be sure to check out Tave Studio Manager and explore their site to see all of the great tools included in the software. Oh, and check this out! After writing about my great experience with Tave in a photographer’s forum recently, I was asked to give a brief testimonial about the product. I just noticed that I am now featured on their main page! How cool!

Get ready for some changes!
October 1, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

I have been talking about the new site and blog that have been in the works for some time now, and I am pleased to say that we’re almost there! As you can see, the blog has been updated, and features the absolutely incredible new logo created by the amazing Eva Talley. I have been so incredibly busy with portrait shoots, weddings, and editing, that I just couldn’t seem to translate my the look/feel that I was hoping for into any of my own logo drafts. Hiring a professional was the best decision that I have made in a while. I asked her to give me a logo that was crisp, fresh, and delicious–how fitting that she incorporated an apple (and in my favorite color too.)

The blog isn’t the only thing that is changing, I will be launching the brand new Catapult Photography web site soon, and shortly thereafter, the new boutique and client proofing area. Yes, I said boutique!

I hope to have most of the new elements rolled out in the coming week, however, my primary focus again is on shooting and editing, and boy oh boy, do I have a jam packed October ahead of me. So many new people to meet, and so many memories to capture. I hope mother nature works with me on the weather this month.

Finally, an update!
September 8, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

Well, I know that it probably seems like I haven’t updated this blog in forever, and that’s because I haven’t! It’s not for lack of action around Catapult Photography, in fact, I’ve just been so busy that I’ve overlooked this important part of the business for a few weeks. Hold your horses, though, because everything will be pretty and new within a few weeks with the launch of the new site and maybe even a new blog.

Image post coming later today!

A quick update
August 3, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

I feel as if I have really been neglecting the blog, but, I have a good excuse. I’ve just been so busy! Between photo sessions, client meetings, editing and ordering, my schedule is becoming very full and I am really loving it! I feel so fortunate to be meeting so many great new people, and I am constantly amazed at the power of word-of-mouth marketing and good old Google.

Speaking of the internet, I am working on a brand new Web site, so stay tuned for that. I like the one that I have now, but it is a bit too similar to some of the other photographer’s Web sites in my area, so I am making every effort to come up with something fresh and new to define Catapult Photography. I am so excited about this upcoming change!

Also, stay tuned for lots of photo updates this week!

I love my Shootsac!
July 16, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

I have been wanting to order a Shootsac for some time now. Partly because they are oh-so-trendy, and partly because I have a few good photographer friends who have given me some rave reviews. I finally went ahead and ordered my bag and a pretty cover over the weekend and it arrived today!

The goods don’t end with the Shootsac, though. I received a few nice accessories for my camera via the UPS man today as well, and yesterday I got some new glasses (see photo above.) This is my first pair of glasses, and I found that with all of the editing I have been doing lately I’ve had some pretty serious eye strain. Hopefully they help!

Portraits of Zach
June 29, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

My boyfriend, Zach, was kind enough to hold still for a few shots while I played with a new lens. Typically he runs when I point the camera in his direction, so I appreciated his patience. I just had to post a couple of the shots, because I thought they were so cute.

The newest member of our family
June 18, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

Almost one week ago while taking our dog out for her morning walk, I heard the most distinct “meow!” coming from the woods at the edge of our property. As I walked closer, low and behold, the most adorable little orange ball of fur came toddling toward me, and I swear she was saying: “mama.”

Do we need another pet? No. Could I even fathom not bringing her in and caring for her? Definitely not. After some consideration, veterinary care, and a bag of kitten chow, we decided that little miss June (a name chosen shortly after her arrival) would be a part of our family. Isn’t she just the cutest?

In photography news, I have been busy with editing photos from a baby/family shoot on Sunday, and I am excited to share a few of those.

The weather has been so beautiful here in Chillicothe this week that I am very tempted to set up some sort of an outdoor office on the back deck, so that I can enjoy the sun shine a little while I work during the day. It’s times like this when I am so thankful to have recently purchased a laptop.

Stay tuned in the next couple of days for lots of images from my latest shoot!

Beautiful Kailey & Kinsley
June 11, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

I had the pleasure recently of photographing two sisters, Kailey and Kinsley. Both girls have such a sweet spirit; I feel lucky to have had the chance to capture some of that spirit in their photos. I am really beginning to love child portrait sessions!

Welcome to the Catapult Photography blog!
June 6, 2008 | Filed in: Personal

The blog is finally here! I have always intended to create a blog for Catapult Photography, and I am so pleased that I took the time this week to make that happen. Be sure to add the blog to your favorites, and tune in regularly to see lots of beautiful session photos, and even some of my own personal photography. I will also be posting frequent news and updates relating to my portrait and wedding work, and even offering some discounts to clients.

While I have your attention, I also want to mention my Senior Ambassador Program. Selected Ross County seniors who will be graduating in 2009 can receive a free Catapult Photography senior portrait session as well as other perks and discounts. Please click here to learn more, and submit an application. This is a great way for energetic seniors to save money and have fun too!

Thank you for visiting, and keep coming back!
